Thanks to you, my yummy readers!

I have to give a huge shout of thanks to you, my readers. The Yummy Life blog has been up and running for 6 weeks now. You've visited my blog, made comments, and shared my blog with friends. I'm so grateful. It's your regular visits, comments, and support that provide me with the fuel for writing this blog. I do most definitely have the yummiest of friends and readers. Love you guys. Truly.

The best part of my day is reading the comments you add at the end of my posts. I get motivation and great ideas from you, and other readers do to. So, please keep those comments coming! Just in case you missed them, here are a few of the notable tips and comments from recent posts. (I've also included a couple of additional tips from me.)

3 Easy Dips--Pumpkin Pie, Caramel, and Peanut Butter

  • Pat suggests mixing nuts, dried fruits or mini chocolate chips into these dips. Pumpkin pie dip with raisins, caramel dip with dried apricots, peanut butter dip with mini chocolate chips. Love that idea. There are endless possibilities.

Pumpkin Granola Muffins

  • Sandy asked and clarified that the "plain" granola called for in the recipe means granola without dried fruit mixed in--just nuts and grains. However, that's a personal choice. No reason you couldn't include raisins or other dried fruit.
  • Grammy suggested making these muffins in mini muffin pans. That way they are better for small snacks and easier finger food on buffet tables.
  • Emily shared some of her pumpkin chocolate chip muffins with me. They were so good. No reason you can't add chocolate chips to the pumpkin granola muffins, too. Chocolate makes most things better!
  • Monica (me) suggests a topping alternative: omit the crisp topping, frost the muffins with Pumpkin Pie Cream Cheese Spread, and sprinkle granola on top.

Maple Pumpkin Spice Lattes

  • Sheri is going to make a batch to serve customers in her store (The Loopy Ewe) on shopping days. Knitting and lattes do go well together!
  • Blair and I may be planning a road trip to Canada where we hear they still serve maple lattes at Starbucks. (Can any of my Canadian readers verify that?)
  • Monica (me) suggests a gadget that works great for removing the pumpkin that settles in the bottom of the crock pot or pan of latte's. Use a gravy separator. Fill the gravy separator with the latte mixture, let the pumpkin settle to the bottom, hold it over your sink, and pull the trigger until the pumpkin is gone from the bottom. Release the trigger and what's left is pumpkin-flavored latte's--without the residue in the bottom. This separator holds 4 cups, so you'll need to repeat this 4 times to get through the 14 cups of latte. It doesn't take long. By the way, if you haven't used a gravy separator before, you will love having one for separating the grease from your Thanksgiving turkey gravy. It's a very handy gadget.

Asian Peanut Noodles with Vegetables and Chicken

  • Bonnie made this for a party and reports that it was a big hit. She left out the chicken so her vegetarian guests could enjoy it.

There simply aren't enough days in the week to try all of the great recipes that I come across. Here are some seasonal recipes by fellow bloggers that look particularly delicious. I'm anxious to try them all. In the meantime, here are their links in case you'd like to add any of these to your fall cooking plans. Your mouth will be watering when you read them.

  • Oatmeal Baked in a Pumpkin. I love oatmeal, and this recipe looks delicious. Better yet, it is cleverly cooked in a pumpkin. What a great idea for a fall breakfast. 

  • Pumpkin French Toast. From the same blogger as the oatmeal. Looks so scrumptious. Another great fall breakfast idea. Her blog is about cooking with kids, but these recipes most certainly appeal to grown ups, too.

  • Cinnamon Pumpkin Seed Brittle. This is a seasonal variation on peanut brittle. She recommends using a piece of this brittle to garnish your pumpkin pie. LOVE that idea. 

  • Cinnamon Roll Griddle Cakes. This is one of the most inviting food photos I've ever seen. Oh my goodness. T-Man put in a request for these when he saw the picture. 

  • Apple Butter in a Crock Pot. What a great idea for an easy way to make apple butter. This will be my next canning project using the abundance of apples available now.

  • Pumpkin Chocolate Cheesecake Bars. This recipe is singing my song. It combines all of the ingredients I love this time of year. Yum.
  • Taffy Apple Tartlets. I'm making these to serve at my Book Club. They look so good. And they're cute.
