What Does A Black Cat Wear for Halloween?

King-Man and I have a new grandkitty. His name is Sal. That is short for Salvadore. Sal belongs to Bracken (aka Brackenthebox) and Rachel and lives with them in their Boston condo. What a cutie patootie. We haven't met our grandkitty yet, but hope to very soon. You may recall that we have a grandturtle in San Francisco, which means that we now have grandimals from coast to coast. (Not to be confused with Granimals kids' clothing).

Bracken and Rachel got Sal at a local shelter. He'd been in kitty foster care and seems very happy in his new home. We're told that Sal is playful in the way that most kitties are. He likes to dart out the front door, and then immediately darts back inside. He knows where his bread is buttered bowl is filled. So, he doesn't stray for long.

Because Sal has a mustache, he was named after the mustached artist Salvadore Dali. There were a number of mustachoed people of import who were considered when naming Sal. Among them, Wyatt, Doc, and Sam (from the movie Tombstone), Groucho, Nietzsche, Charlie (Chaplin), Nikola (Tesla), Fredo (from his Cuban days in The Godfather), Andy (Sipowicz from NYPD Blue), and a few others; but ultimately, Sal won out. I might point out the King-Man has a spectacular mustache, but I don't believe his name was on the list.

Here are some photos of Sal. Check out that cute mustache. In keeping with our family tradition of taking self-portraits, Bracken took one of the 2 of them together holding the camera at arm's length. (Rachel was at work and missed out on the photo session.)

We were particularly glad to see Sal cozying up to a St. Louis Cardinals hat. The hometown sports team indoctrination must begin at an early age. Glad to see Bracken is on top of that.

What does a black cat wear for Halloween?

In Sal's case, the costume of choice is apparently a Diet Dr. Pepper Box. He spends a lot of time inside of it.
