This is a favorite dessert in our house. It's something we have year round, and always on Valentine's Day. The china plate you see in the photo is the same china I've eaten off of for special occasions since I was a little girl. I took this photo when King-Man and I had this dessert on Valentine's Day. Yum.

All you need to make this decadent dessert is angel food cake, hot fudge sauce, strawberries, and whipped cream. All of these things can be prepared ahead, so it's easy to assemble these inviting dessert plates at the last minute. That makes this a great dessert to serve guests.

First you need to make or buy angel food cake and hot fudge sauce. Here are my recipes, if you'd like to make your own:

Step 2. Wash and quarter the strawberries. Add a little sugar to them and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Step 3. Whip the cream and refrigerate until serving time.

Step 4. When it's time for dessert, heat the fudge sauce.

Step 5. Assemble the dessert plates. A slice of angel food cake on the bottom, next the strawberries, drizzle with hot fudge sauce, top with whipped cream.

Easy and oh-so-yummy! The combination of flavors and textures is hard to beat-- light & delicate cake, chilled berries, hot fudge, cool whipped cream. Absolute heaven.

And, it's pretty.

When serving a large group, I've set up a dessert bar buffet where guests can assemble their own dessert plate. It's easy to double or triple the ingredients to accomodate any number of guests. You can keep the fudge sauce hot in a crock pot or fondue pot. Set the whipped cream in a bowl of ice to keep it chilled. I usually just offer the simple combination of ingredients described above; but you can also offer other toppings for guests to choose from like raspberries, mangos, blueberries, caramel sauce, marshmallow creme, and chopped nuts.

Make it a yummy day!
